BUSINESS INSIGHTS: Viejas recently added a new, 2,500-space parking structure with numerous EV chargers inside, along with fast EV chargers across the street in the Outlet Center. The immensely popular casino and resort has also expanded its gaming floor. In the near future, it will also unveil a brand-new steakhouse as well as upgrades to the other dining venues.
In October, Viejas is completing a new gas station with a convenience store and carwash. This will provide guests, workforce, travelers and community members with discounted fuel prices. A micro-grid, coming online in phases through fourth quarter 2025, will encompass a solar array, generators and storage, providing this incredible destination the potential to be 100-percent energy independent.
“We aim to provide our guests a comprehensive casino and resort destination with the newest games, best hotel, spa, restaurants, concerts, and unparalleled service,” Samuel Brown says.

BACKGROUND: Douglas W. Manchester is president of Manchester Hotel Group and a managing member of the San Diego-based Manchester Financial Group (MFG), which specializes in the ground-up development, ownership and management of high-end legacy development projects.
MFG envisioned and transformed downtown San Diego’s waterfront, developing the Marriott Marquis Hotel & Marina and the two towers comprising the Manchester Grand Hyatt — and forever enhancing the Finest City skyline. Most recently, MFG completed the north embarcadero’s Pacific Gateway project, developing two million square feet of office/mixed-use and one million square feet of hotel space.
In a recent landmark victory, MFG was awarded the 70-acre revitalization of NAVWAR. Plans are underway to build a new Navy facility off Interstate 5 (by the Old Town exit), along with a vertical, mixed-use “city of the future” for San Diego.
